I recently got the season 1 DVD set of InuYasha. One of the episodes reveals that every new moon InuYasha looses his demon powers and becomes a full human the whole night. Now, he of course considers it a great nuisance; after all, it makes him weak.
In a previous episode it showed little InuYasha trying to play with people, but they threw the ball they were tossing to each other away and when InuYasha got a hold of it, the crowd dispersed, leaving him alone.
I had wanted to draw little InuYasha. But then I got to thinking. Wouldn't the "curse" of changing to a human every new moon have lasted since he was born? Would he have always considered it a nuisance?
I don't think he would. I think that when he was young, he looked forward to the new moon every month so that he could be just like every other child.
I actually have this concept going on as well in a lot of my Inuyasha fanfictions. Kitsumi is one of my own characters that I put with Inuyasha to be his daughter figure (Kitsumi is Kagome's daughter but not Inuyasha's. it's a long story ) anyway. I believe that the whole human and demon blood think worked the same way too. Only with Kitsumi it was more like when she or someone was in danger and her demon blood snapped making her full demon for a moment until the charm that subdues her demon blood takes affect. Then she lives out a hanyo life from there on and the one night of being human problem.
